Hey everyone, I'm super new to this and just read the 'IP on Mars' thread. My situation isn't *that* extreme, but my IP geolocation tool is consistently providing really inaccurate results for actual user locations, even though I picked it specifically for better IP data accuracy. Here's a quick example of what I'm seeing:
User 1 IP: 203.0.113.45
Tool Reported Location: Paris, France
Actual User Location: London, UK

User 2 IP: 198.51.100.12
Tool Reported Location: Tokyo, Japan
Actual User Location: Sydney, Australia

User 3 IP: 203.0.113.19
Tool Reported Location: New York, USA
Actual User Location: Toronto, Canada
Could anyone suggest common reasons for such consistent IP data accuracy problems for a beginner like me, or point out a crucial setup step I might be overlooking?

Your tool is consistently wrong, you say? Sounds like every marketer's Monday morning when a campaign underperforms, eh? I completely get how frustrating this is for IP data accuracy; the most common reasons are users on VPNs/proxy services or large mobile carrier IP ranges, which often misrepresent actual user locations due to centralized exit points or outdated IP geolocation databases. What percentage of your traffic comes from mobile devices?
