WHM service status alerts

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to WHM and trying to get a handle on things. My WHM Service Monitor isn't accurately reporting service status or sending out alerts when something goes down, and I'm a bit lost on how to debug this specific issue. Could anyone point me towards the right steps or common pitfalls for getting the service status alerts working properly? Anyone faced this before?
