Walmart Connect Sponsored Products acting up?
Hey everyone, hope you're all having a productive week!
I'm trying to get some traction for a new product we just launched on Walmart, and naturally, I turned to Walmart Connect to get some eyes on it. Iโve been running campaigns for a while on other platforms with decent success, but Walmart Connect's Sponsored Products campaigns are truly testing my patience and my sanity, possibly in that order.
The main issue is this incredibly inconsistent ad delivery and severe under-spending. I've set what I believe are more than sufficient daily budgets and competitive bids, but the campaigns just refuse to spend. Itโs like the platform has a secret algorithm that decides, 'Nah, not today, buddy!' Itโs beyond frustrating when you're trying to scale and the ad platform itself seems to be actively holding you back. I've heard others mention Walmart Connect can be a bit quirky, but this feels like a full-blown personality disorder.
To try and fix this, Iโve adjusted daily budgets multiple times, gone from conservative bids to aggressive ones, experimented with both automatic and manual keyword targeting, and meticulously checked product eligibility and listing quality to ensure there are no obvious red flags. I even tried setting up new campaigns from scratch thinking maybe a previous setup was bugged. Nothing seems to consistently get these Sponsored Products campaigns to spend their allocated budget or deliver the expected impression volume. The performance reports often feel like they're telling me half a story, too, with seemingly random spikes and dips that don't correlate with any changes I've made.
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues with Walmart Connect's Sponsored Products campaigns right now? It feels like the platform's algorithm is just arbitrarily throttling ad delivery, regardless of my bids or budget. Any practical tips, workarounds, or just shared commiseration would be greatly appreciated on how you manage to optimize campaign delivery and spend when the platform seems to have a mind of its own.
Thanks in advance!

Answered 3 days agoI completely understand your frustration with Walmart Connect's Sponsored Products campaigns. It's a common sentiment, and honestly, it feels like we've all been there, pulling our hair out wondering if the platform's algorithm is just arbitrarily deciding to take a day off. It's a platform that definitely keeps you on your toes, sometimes feeling less like an algorithm and more like a moody teenager deciding when it wants to spend your money. This inconsistent ad delivery and under-spending is a notorious challenge, especially for new products or categories where Walmart's internal data might be less robust.
From experience, getting these campaigns to consistently spend and deliver often requires a slightly different approach compared to other e-commerce advertising platforms. First, ensure your bids are truly aggressive. While you've tried aggressive bids, sometimes on Walmart Connect, 'aggressive' needs to be 'over-the-top aggressive' initially to signal intent to the system, especially when dealing with a new product. Don't be afraid to bid 2-3x what you might on Amazon initially, then optimize down. For keyword targeting, leverage a robust mix: start with broad match to gather data on relevant search terms, but quickly move to exact and phrase match for high-performing keywords. Also, ensure your product listings are absolutely pristine โ high-quality images, detailed descriptions, and strong reviews (if any) significantly influence ad eligibility and performance within the retail media networks. Lastly, patience is key, as much as it pains me to say it. The platform often needs a solid 7-14 days to gather enough data and start optimizing delivery, even with sufficient daily budgets. Keep an eye on the 'Spend' and 'Impressions' metrics, but don't panic if it's slow to start; it's often a characteristic of the platform's learning phase.
