hey everyone, so we just launched our mobile game and things are looking good, but we're trying to boost our ad revenue. we've been using Vungle for our rewarded video ads, but after updating their SDK to the latest version, we're facing a persistent issue.

the ads sometimes fail to load or complete, it's pretty frustrating for users and for us too, as it directly impacts our monetization goals. when it happens, we see specific errors in the log. here's a dummy example of what I'm seeing:

Vungle: Error loading ad: Ad failed to download assets. Error code: 5003

has anyone else dealt with tricky Vungle SDK integration problems recently, especially with rewarded videos? or maybe seen this exact error pop up? looking for any troubleshooting tips or workarounds, anything really. help a brother out please...

Hello Jamal Mensah,

Dealing with ad SDK integration issues, especially after an update, can certainly be a bottleneck for mobile game monetization. The "Error code: 5003 - Ad failed to download assets" you're seeing with Vungle rewarded video ads typically points to a few common areas. Primarily, this error indicates the Vungle SDK was unable to retrieve the necessary creative assets for the ad from their servers. This can stem from unstable network connectivity on the user's device, but it's also worth investigating your implementation. Ensure your Vungle SDK initialization is correctly configured with the right App ID and Placement IDs, and that you're pre-loading ads adequately before attempting to show them. Review Vungle's documentation for the specific SDK version you're using to confirm any breaking changes in initialization or ad request methods. Also, check your game's manifest/info.plist for necessary network permissions, and consider implementing robust retry logic for ad requests that fail. Sometimes, issues can also be traced back to server-side configurations or even specific ad campaign settings within the Vungle dashboard itself, so a double-check there for your ad network integration is prudent. If the issue persists across various devices and network conditions, gathering detailed logs and reaching out to Vungle's direct support team with your App ID and Placement IDs would be the next critical step.

What specific device models and network conditions are you observing these failures on most frequently?

Yeah, those tips really helped with the 5003 error, thanks! Now we're seeing much better load rates, but fill rate on some GEOs is still kinda low after all this.
