Hey everyone, just wrestling with a new journey analytics integration and it's giving me grief. The data, especially around user behavior, seems completely illogical and inconsistent; honestly, it feels like the software is gaslighting me with conflicting reports. Any common pitfalls or debugging tips for these tools that might explain why my user behavior data is so wonky? Thanks in advance!

Hello Yuki Lee, It sounds like you're dealing with some frustrating data inconsistencies, and while "wonky" is a perfectly descriptive term for data that just doesn't add up, let's look at some common technical culprits rather than blaming the software for gaslighting you. Often, issues with journey analytics stem from fundamental data collection and integration points. A primary suspect is usually inconsistent or incorrect event tracking validation. Ensure your data layer implementation is robust across all touchpoints. This includes verifying that event names, properties, and user IDs are uniformly sent and received by your analytics platform. Discrepancies often arise from missing event triggers, duplicate events, or inconsistent user identification across different devices or sessions, which can severely distort the customer lifecycle management view. Another frequent problem area is the integration itself. Double-check your API connections, webhook configurations, and data ingestion pipelines for errors or dropped payloads. Timezone differences between your data sources and the analytics platform can also create seemingly illogical timestamps and sequence breaks. When debugging, isolate specific user journeys or segments and trace their raw event data. Use your tag manager's debugger or browser developer tools to confirm that events are firing correctly and with the expected payloads. Also, consider any potential ad-blocker interference that might prevent certain tracking scripts from loading, leading to incomplete data capture. What specific type of events are showing the most inconsistency in your reports?

Ah got it, the ad-blocker part is a good shout, tbh, completely overlooked that. But what if u have users jumping between subdomains or completely different domains we own? Even with attempts to pass user IDs, that always seems to break the journey for me.
